Angelica is a seasoned, bilingual public relations professional who has utilized her “Out of the Box” strategy for the last 10 years to lead public relations, social media, multicultural marketing and community and government affairs initiatives for major non-profits, financial institutions, healthcare providers, government entities, labor and professional organizations, universities, consumer goods companies and professional athletes.
Her colleagues and friends agree on one thing… She is passionate about her job and building partnerships. “It’s my experience as a former reporter and news anchor that is my best weapon when developing public relations and integrated marketing strategies and programs that get attention and lead to results,” says Angelica.
As the lead anchor for Fox affiliates in California and Nevada, Angelicawrote and produced long-format news pieces for the “Health Beat” a bi-weekly, sponsored medical segment that provided health news that viewers could use. She was recognized by management for being instrumental as an anchor in helping the news outlets attain the highest ratings in the Country among key demographics.
“As a former broadcast journalist, I am still passionate about storytelling and making a difference in the community. This sets the foundation needed to effectively serve clients and enable them to share their organization’s story and create a brand that stands out and connects with consumers”, she adds.
Understanding the unique needs of the various ethnic communities in Los Angeles has been instrumental in developing media outreach opportunities with prominent news outlets – resulting in more visibility locally, nationally and internationally for her clients to include coverage in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, ABC, BBC and CNN.
As a bilingual professional, she has been able to connect with diverse audiences and communities to address controversial issues, diffuse negative messages and work effectively as a spokesperson for mainstream and Spanish language media. Serving as an ongoing national media spokesperson appearing on Spanish language radio and television to include: Univision TV and Radio, Telemundo and Azteca America.
And in times of crisis, the experience as a former journalist enables her to prepare an organization’s leadership and executive team to effectively respond to the tough questions posed by reporters, while protecting the reputation of the organization.
Angelica earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business Administration and completed numerous specialty programs in Marketing, Public Relations and Broadcast Journalism from The University of California, Los Angeles.
Over the years, she has been actively involved as a member of the advisory board for community groups dedicated to improving the lives of underserved children and promoting education and health which have included “The Adelante Mujer Latina Conference”. Additionally, she is a member of the Multicultural task force for the Los Angeles Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. The group spearheaded the creation of an annual public relations seminar focusing on developing pr campaigns to effectively target multi-ethnic communities. In addition, she serves on the board for the USC San Gabriel Valley Alumni Club and the Board of Directors for the National Latina Business Women Association-LA Chapter.
